The Mighty Miss Malone by Christopher Paul Curtis

5 STARS
The Mighty Miss Malone is the most intelligent book anybody has ever written.  It had curiosity, mystery, and sadness in almost every chapter.  The Mighty Miss Malone is about a young little girl named Deza Malone.  She has one brother named Jimmie.  A mother named Peg Malone and a father named Roscoe Malone.  It takes place in Gary, Indiana.  Twelve year old Deza Malone is the smartest student in her class.  Then the Great Depression starts.  Then the Malone family and other families are starting to lose money because it is very hard for a black person to find a job.  So now Deza Malone and her family are trying to survive in the Great Depression.  Now the Malones are trying to go to a place called WONDERFUL!

I thought that the story was really good because it tells you about how hard it was to survive the Great Depression.  Also it tells the life of a person that had lost everything that they owned.  I think that you should really read this book.

1 STAR
The book, The Mighty Miss Malone is not a really good book at all.  It's about a girl named Deza Malone and her family.  It is hard for them because they are living in the time of the Great Depression.  The only part that I kind of liked was when Deza punches Tito in the gut at the speakeasy.  At the end of the story they leave me wanting more details.  I gave this book one star because of how the characters act in the story.  Also, the story is very sad.  I would like to have been at the edge of my seat more during this book.
